Jeremy Jones

Jeremy Jones, drummer, composer, yogi, “shreds the drums like a samurai”, and has been likened to a “ferocious hurricane” on the drums. He unique drumming is characterized by generous use of percussion instruments and mesmerizing grooves on the rims and stick-on-stick. The Teaching has become the fertile ground in which Jeremy’s drumming and musical originality has been given full expression. He leads the Jeremy Jones Xtet which released its debut album Awakening to Life in May 2008, featuring 12 original compositions from Jeremy. Twice selected to Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead at the Kennedy Center program, he has performed with Billy Taylor’s trio and played percussion on drummer Winard Harper’s latest CD Come into the Light. In additional to playing regularly in Seattle, he travels several times a year to Denver to play to full audiences with the Serafin Sanchez / Jeremy Jones Quintet. In spring 2007 he attended Bikram’s Yoga College of India teacher training and has been teaching Bikram Yoga in the Seattle area since.
